What does it mean to be a teammate? In part, it means you being who God designed you to be, doing what you love to do, and serving Christ as you do it, it’s that simple!

We are an evangelical team. Our mission is to honor God and represent Jesus on and off of the race course. Our aim is to do so by:

  • respecting our fellow competitors / participants
  • helping others in the spirit of Christ as best we can
  • sharing Christ’s love and the truths of the gospel in both deed and word as God presents us with opportunities.

The ultimate goal of Team Finish Well Endurance it to take advantage of opportunities that God provides to share the love of Christ in practical ways and present the gospel to a lost and hurting world.  The results, as always, are up to Him.  We plan to do so by:

  • Participating in various endurance events (5k, cycling tours/races/ triathlons, marathons, etc.) while seeking to be ever conscious of opportunities God provides.
  • Making ourselves available, and offering practical help and assistance to those we encounter as best we can in practical displays of the love of Christ.
  • Utilizing the Finish Well Endurance website, online gospel presentations, and apparel as potential doorways to share Christ with those in the endurance sport community.
  • Creating a network of prayer support and encouragement for fellow teammates as we embark upon our shared mission.

We realize that even within the family of God not every believer will agree on all things.  However, here are some of the beliefs that we hold as essential and foundational:

  • There is one and only one living and true God. He is rightfully due our highest love, reverence, and obedience. God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being. God the Father reigns over and cares for His universe, His creatures, and all of human history. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. God the Son, was sent by God the Father. He lived the perfect life that we were supposed to live and died the death that we deserved, willingly taking our place. God the Spirit convinces, convicts, calls, changes and completes.
  • The Bible is God’s written word. It is true, inspired by the Holy Spirit, and is completely authoritative. It tells us what God says about Himself, us, and how we are saved from our sin through Jesus.
  • We are all created by God, in His image, but we have all rebelled against Him. We’re all in need of forgiveness and restoration. We all sin and fall short of the glory of God. Without His forgiveness, we will remain forever separated from Him.
  • Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus alone. Jesus is the one and only way to God the Father and the only path to Heaven. Salvation cannot be earned through good works, morality, religious affiliation or family background. True salvation is evidenced by a changed life and attitude toward sin and God.
  • God saves, keeps, and forgives us by His divine grace. There is nothing we could ever to do to make ourselves worthy of His love or forgiveness. In turn, Christians are to love, forgive, restore, serve and worship with others.
  • God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly to the earth, the dead will be raised, and Christ will judge everyone in the way that only He can. Those who have not placed their faith and hope in Christ will be forever separated from God and consigned to Hell, the place of everlasting punishment. Those who have been saved by faith in Christ will receive their reward and will live forever in Heaven.

Just as all followers of Jesus everywhere are called to do, teammates are also called to live according to the word of God, to avoid moral compromise, and not affirm sinful acts or behavior. Of course nobody is going to be perfect, but that’s why we all need forgiveness!  What teammates should always be mindful of is that we are called to be a reflection of Christ, and seek to conduct ourselves accordingly. Finally, we want to have fun out there! The Christian life, while it has its trials and tribulations, is ultimately one of joy and hope! Let us reflect that as we run our race and seek to lead others to life!
